What is the difference between WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business?

WhatsApp is the chatting solution most people are familiar with. Meanwhile, WhatsApp Business is a free service that gives users, like small local businesses, access to various marketing tools to answer questions, support customers, and take orders via chat.

What’s WhatsApp business? 

WhatsApp Business is a free-to-use solution allowing users to communicate better with their customers. You can use the platform for alerts, notifications, customer support, and marketing purposes.

However, you can only use WhatsApp Business for outbound messages only as long as you follow the 24-hour window and approved templates for opening/reopening the chat.

Why should I use WhatsApp instead of SMS?

Since SMS and WhatsApp messages aren’t mutually exclusive, the best marketing practice is to use them both. How many messasges can I send my prospects?

The amount of messages you can send out within a 24-hour period depends on your associated Meta Business Manager. These limits are put in place by Meta to protect users from spam, and are influenced by your prospects’ feedback.

Tier 0: 250 unique conversations in 24 hours.
Tier 1: 1,000 unique conversations in 24 hours.
Tier 2: 10,000 unique conversations in 24 hours.
Tier 3: 100,000 unique conversations in 24 hours.
Tier 4: Unlimited number of unique conversations in 24 hours.

Can I send out any type of outbound WhatsApp message?

No, your messages must be based on Meta’s pre-approved templates, which feature variable messages you can customize and personalize to fit your audience. Outbound WhatsApp messages are also limited to only text and hyperlinks. Images, CTAs, and clickable buttons are unavailable to protect users from spam.
